Our Dedicated Staff
Bob Martin is the original proprietor of Dogfish Tackle Company and has been fishing local waters for over 30 years. In 1985, he took that passion for fishing and opened our store to help others foster their passion as well. Bob then designed the original Dogfish Stik, which has become a favorite rod of many professional and recreational anglers alike. He is truly a tackle pioneer!
Dave Bayes has lead Team Dogfish for over 18 years. As the managing partner, he has made the store and its team the best on the West Coast of Florida! Dave has built an amazing customer service based business with a premium inventory selection. He has also been successful on the water as a perennial contender and a prominent figure on the Kingfish tournament scene. Dave is trusted by many local anglers for his expert advice on tackle and his first class fishing knowledge. He is also well known for his custom Kingfish Rigs. But, it’s Dave’s genuine personality and special ability to make every customer important that are his greatest assets to Team Dogfish.
As the assistant manager for Dogfish Tackle, Joe offers customers knowledge from his on-the-water experiences. He began fishing as a second grader, plucking Pompano from the water off the piers of Ft. Desoto. What started as a boyhood obsession has become his life’s passion. He is an accomplished inshore and offshore angler, as well as a respected diver and spear fisherman. His friendly and helpful approach is the Dogfish way!
James has been fishing for years and strives to challenge himself every time he’s on the water. His passion is offshore fishing in the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico, but you can often find him flats fishing as well. Fishing is his life, and it shows with every customer he helps. He’s very good at taking the time to properly gear up everyone, from the first time fisherman to the professional angler.
Though Colton is our youngest employee, he has fished as much as possible both inshore and on our local piers. He began fishing as a tot with his father and brother in their family boat, and has been hooked ever since. As he got older, Colton learned how to fish the Redington Pier for big Snook, Kingfish, and Tarpon. But, he didn’t stop there. He loves to big bass fish as well, and especially enjoys catching big bass on top water plugs. Colton is continually on the water gaining more fishing knowledge to better assist our customers. He hopes to see you out there or here in our great store!
Mike began fishing at a young age, like most of us here at Dogfish Tackle. He fell in love with the sport while grouper fishing one day and hasn’t stopped since. Fishing has become his life! He started captains school while still in high school and has now earned the title of Captain Mike Hollingsworth. He fishes out of a completely remodeled 222 Aquasport flat back and specializes in offshore bottom fishing, inshore fishing, and free diving as well. Mike uses his abundance of experience on the water to assist our customers in finding all they need.
