In 1984,  I moved from Wisconsin to Florida looking to retire.  I enjoyed fishing and quickly became a "regular" at the Redington Long Pier.  I don't recall why, but my friends on the Pier soon started calling me "Dogfish Bob," a nickname I have carried ever since.
My love for fishing opened some doors, and I began selling fishing supplies at the Wagon Wheel Flea Market on the weekends.  I was quickly hooked and realized that I wanted something more.  So, I decided to open a premium tackle outlet.  I needed a name and wanted to share what was given to me by my friends, "Dogfish."  Thus, the "Dogfish Tackle Company" was born in 1985.  My new tackle center was located near the Welch Causeway in Madeira Beach.   It did not take long, however, for the "Dogfish Tackle Company" to outgrow the walls of this location.  In order to offer my customers a larger variety of tackle, I needed a bigger and better facility.  In 1988, I moved my dream to Redington Shores right across from the Long Pier where my nickname "Dogfish" originated.
Over the next 17 years in our facility on the beach, the "Dogfish Tackle Company" grew and grew.  With a larger display area, we came to offer the finest rod and reel selection on the west coast of Florida.  We also created our original fishing rod masterpiece, the Dogfish Stik.  Yet, once again, we outgrew our location.  So, in November 2005, we moved to Seminole, FL to open our "Dogfish Tackle SuperCenter."  With over 3,000 assorted rods and 300 different reels on display, our brand new 5000 square foot facility is truly a fisherman's paradise.  Our product selection is second to none!  We take great pride in our products and service and strive to satisfy your every fishing need.  Come visit us anytime and see for yourself!
